Values & Priorities

Our work is based on the 3 core values of empathy, generosity, and selflessness. They under-pin our work, maintaining the connection between our faith and our intention.

Home Values & Priorities

Our values may be universal.
But they bring credence and revelance to our mission.

All the activities we undertake at Muslim Futures are based on the 3 core values of empathy, generosity, and selflessness. They under-pin our work, maintaining the connection between our faith and our intention, and validating our methodology through 5 strategic priorities.

Empathy

It was said of the Prophet Mohammad sallallāhu 'alayhi wa’sallam,

There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful.  (Quran 9:128)

Indeed, it is reported in the Hadith, that our Prophet, sallallāhu 'alayhi wa’sallam would always feel our suffering and is praised by Allah subhanahu wa ta'āla for his empathetic nature. The Prophet sallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam himself also encouraged us to feel empathy for each other. He was reported to have said,
The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever. (as narrated by al-Bukhari)

Generosity

Generosity, a virtue that is placed centrally in Islam, is considered a quality of the soul which Allah subḥānahu wa ta’āla gives to those He loves. Those who are not attached to material wealth and instead use what they are given to please God and, thereby, make the world a better place. In Islam, we are reminded that wealth does not belong to us.

The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which grows seven spikes, in each spike is a  hundred grains. And Allah multiplies the reward for whoever He wills, for Allah is all-Encompassing and knowing.”  (Quran 2:261)

You will never attain piety until you spend out of what you hold dear, and whatever you may spend on anything, Allah indeed knows it.”  (Quran 3:92)

Selflessness

It is the love of good for others. When we find a situation that calls for selfless behaviour, we prefer others and favour them above ourselves. We feel hunger for others until their hunger is fulfilled and we feel thirst for others until their thirst is quenched.

Of the honoured companions of the Prophet sallallāhu 'alayhi wa’sallam, whom Allah subhanahu wa ta’āla praised, He said,

And give them (emigrants) preference over themselves, even though they were in need of that.  (Quran 59:9)

The Prophet sallallāhu 'alayhi wa’sallam, further added beauty to this great virtue by saying,

None of you will have faith till he likes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself.  (as narrated by al-Bukhari)

Our Strategic Priorities

We are one Muslim Futures community.
We will be a global community of equals, unified in a shared commitment to realising our vision. This will be supported by promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence in our work, driven by new and evolving processes, structures and relationships.

Our work will be inclusive and locally driven.
We will transform and adapt our approach to individual circumstances. This means our work can be de-centralised and open to all, enabling places and communities to be powerful platforms in which people themselves can participate, organise, and direct change.

We will always do more then we can, whenever we can.
We will continually work to maximise the scope and reach of our projects. We will re-invest every penny of additional non-donor income we recieve,  into improving and positively impacting the lives of the beneficiaries that we deliver to.

We will always work for change with dignity.
We will drive for change through our work, advancing, improving, and enhancing the condition and circumstances of the people and communities we work with, maintaining dignity and respect in everything we do.

We will strategically apply Islamic approaches in our programmes and processes.
We will use faith as a force for social good, promoting the teachings of Islam. We will apply faith derived insights to our work in a way that combines evidence and rigour with compassion, and promotes our values of empathy, generosity, and selflessness.

All your donations go directly to the poor and needy, without deducting ANY administration or marketing costs.
This means your kindness ONLY gets used on the projects YOU ask us to. Find out more about how we deal with Receipts & Feedback.
